SCHOOL NETWORK
BREAKING BARRIERS, BUILDING READERS
Literacy Academy Collective has created the first district public school in the nation specifically designed for children with dyslexia, and other struggling readers.
At LAC we believe access to literacy is the most pressing Civil Rights issue in New York City.
We partner with schools, families, community-based organizations, and institutions of higher education to bring culturally relevant, structured literacy to the most marginalized students at the intersection of race, income, and disability. Our goal is to bring literacy to every borough.
In 2023, South Bronx Literacy Academy opened its doors to 2nd and 3rd graders. This year, we expanded to two more sections of Grade 4. In September 2025, Central Brooklyn Literacy Academy is due to open.
